Erin Prais-Hintz’ Challenge of Music blog hop comes at an interesting time. I just found out that I am losing my hearing. I have genetic hearing loss, especially in my left ear, just like my dad and his brothers and sisters. It sucks! I was a Music Major for a time in college; music has been in my life from my very earliest memories. I sang in the choir, I played in the band.
Music was on the stereo all the time while I was growing
up.
I loved listening to my mom’s favorite records. One of the pieces my mother would dance to
around the living room was Johann Strauss’ Blue Danube Waltz. Every time I heard it, my heart would leap,
my spirit would soar. That is the piece
of music I chose as my inspiration for this challenge.
The clear plastic tubing is filled with the same Czech glass
beads that are wire-wrapped beneath.
The loops suspend silver wires with fresh-water pearls. The tube sits on the collar-bone and the
beads and pearls move in synch like dancers around the ballroom.

Beautiful! I have wanted to work with plastic tubing, even bought some! I guess I will have to get it out and get creating! Love the post, the music and your story. But isn't that where music comes from??? Our stories.

Your clever design really does evoke the sway of dancers waltzing across the dance floor. The blue glass with pearls honours a time when sparkle was the order of the day!

The Blue Danube is also one of my mother's favorite musical pieces. I can see the movement of the dancers in your piece.

I am so very sorry about your hearing :( I have sang all my life and love music so much... I was once asked if I would rather go deaf or blind and I replied blind... because I'd miss music so. I am going blind, actually, slowly but surely. My sight has been deteriorating since I was in second grade. ANYWAY, lol, I am so sorry and I am sending you well wishes. I only wish science and medicine could cure everything that takes so much away from life. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Thank you for sharing <3
Lovely necklace, and such creative use of tubing. I like the movement of the beads, and can see them as dancers to the waltz.
Soooo pretty and elegant! I can see it on the neck of a be-gowned lady swirling along a ballroom floor to this very waltz for sure:)
