Kate Has Done It Again!

Remember the challenge I had earlier? I posted some images of the works of Richard Shilling as a challenge and Kate Clawson of Organic Odessy was the winner. Read about it {HERE}

This is the image that inspired Kate. It is called Mayday.
And this is Kate's entry . . . don't you just love it?
Well, when I told Kate she was the winner, she said she wanted to do something special for me. I had no idea . . .

Earlier this week I got a package in the mail. I knew right away it was from Kate because I know she makes her own mailing packages from calendar pages and magazine covers.

Look what I found inside! Miniature Mayday Earrings.

They are just a bit large for my style, but I will hang them in my studio area as a reminder of my creative friends.

If you were to collaborate, what would you do and who would you want to work with? Do Tell!

Lisi's Orphans -- Give them a good home

I recently posted about Lisi's Lampwork Beads and the 80 orphans I adopted. I used seven in two commissions and decided that the rest should go out into the world as Noah intended: two-by-two, (or as Earrings).I have nineteen (19!) pairs of earrings I am about to post in my Etsy shop Artemisia's Studio. It would probably be a good idea to give me until tomorrow to finish posting.
.
These really are really yummy.
.
The Lampwork beads are nearly identical ("nearly" is why they are orphans) and measure approx. 8.5mm x 12mm on 1/16" mandrels. They are topped with a crystal and silver roundel, a faceted color crystal to match the bead, a daisy spacer and another tiny crystal for just perfect touch of bling. The lever-back earring findings are silver-plated, but can be changed out for other kinds of ear-wires.

Finished Pieces (and One Work in Progress)

After talking to my friend who has commissioned me to make two pieces for high school graduates, this is the first to be finished. It is for a lovely redhead with a distinctive style.
Here it is on my "old lady" neck . . .
and here it is on a backdrop.
Notice the handmade clasp? (I made it!)
And this is a work in progress: a bracelet for another graduate for the same friend.
What is your favorite version?
And here is a pair of earrings that are just gorgeous in person. They do not photograph well because there is a swirl of color that moves all aound each bead -- perfectly matched!
More photos and projects as I finish them.
Comments are ALWAYS welcome.

Busy hands . . .

Still no word on the job . . . but I just heard about the job -- I was a finalist of about 3 people (there were a huge number of qualified candidates). I did not get the job, but the interviewer was very gracious and said that I had been a very strong candidate. So, . . . if that was not the ideal job I am supposed to have, what is it? I am waiting upon the Lord here.

I have been keeping my hands busy to take my mind off the anticiaption. Here is what I have been making.

They will eventually end up in my Etsy Shop but if you see something here and want to buy it NOW, let me know.

In a few days I will celebrate my 100th post. I am thinking of some special way to celebrate it, like a giveaway or a swap or something. So come back often, tell your friends and your blog readers.

Swap Update

I Opened the mailbox this afternoon and found a package from my Swap Pals. I rushed inside and tore open the box to find such lovelies! The necklaces are just FABULOUS! You can see the contens of the package all exploded on my breakfast table. Got to go now. Can't wait any longer to get my hands on them and add some beady-goodness to each.

My Earrings are on sale in Etsy's -- go to the main page, click in the left-hand column area called Catagories under Jewelry. Then click Earrings. {OR follow this link} these Raspberry Swirl Earrings are what I chose to promote. Get'em before they are gone.

Thrum, thrum, thrum

You hear that?

It is me, drumming my fingers. I am "patiently" awaiting the arrival of Tuesday. I have decided to give my etsy shop a little jolt of advertisement, so Tuesday -- all day long, midningt to midnight -- Etsy will be promoting earrings in the main search area. Let's hope it works.

Also on Tuesday, I expect to receive a package full of partially completed necklaces for me to add to. Of course, this is the necklace swap organized by Lorelei Eurto. Nancy Schindler of The Rabbit Muse, has had the necklaces this past week (here and here) and is sending them on to me -- but with Columbus Day on Monday, there's no postal delivery.

Thrum, thrum, thrum.

Stay tuned
